UCLA nurse-midwives offer prenatal care, delivery and postpartum care, as well as breast-feeding consultation. Nurse-midwives focus on meeting patients' needs for physical care, emotional and social support, and health education throughout pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period. Women can expect the same level of safety with nurse-midwives as they do with physicians. (310) 794-4434 Information | (310) 206-4567 Patients
The UCLA nurse-midwives hold graduate degrees in nursing and have been certified through examination by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. They work in consultation with physicians from UCLA's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. All births are planned for the birthing suites at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood. Analgesia and anesthesia options are available to all clients if desired. Many insurance plans cover certified nurse-midwifery care.
