Specialists in High Risk Pregnancy

At UCLA maternal fetal medicine obstetricians specialize in making a high-risk situation less stressful for you, your baby and your family.

Maternal Fetal MedicineWhether your risk is during the term of your pregnancy, during labor and delivery, or during the post-partum period, our specialists care for the unique needs of your growing family. Our mission is to provide comprehensive assessment and therapy of for high-risk pregnancies through collaboration with a multidisciplinary staff of perinatologists, genetics counselors, ultrasonographers, neonatologists, and nurse specialists. We encourage a close working relationship with referring physicians, enabling patients to obtain much of their care in their home environment.  Women without problem pregnancies are also welcome.

A pregnancy is considered high-risk when there are potential complications that could affect the mother, the baby or both. These complications could exist prior to pregnancy or could arise during pregnancy. At UCLA we are prepared and committed to helping you through your pregnancy.

Prenatal Screening

At UCLA we offer the most up-to-date prenatal screening and diagnostic testing. Some prenatal screening tests are routine and occur throughout your pregnancy to help you and your doctor monitor your health and the health of your baby. These tests may also signal when a problem arises and can help determine the best course of treatment.
