"For any woman anticipating a hysterectomy or prolapsed surgery, I want to give words of reassurance. Although I had been very unfamiliar with medical and surgical procedures, Dr. Christopher Tarnay carefully took the time during my first office visit to explain to me in full detail all the available remedial options for my condition. He respected my concerns and questions and answered them fully. I felt completely involved in all the decisions. It was evident to me that with Dr. Tarnay’s extensive experience and expertise in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, I could trust the outcome of the surgery. On the morning of surgery, I was made comfortable and calm. I was supported by the caring and highly skilled staff of the UCLA Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and their depth of resources. The pre-op and the post-op teams were reassuring and buoyant. After the surgery, in the few days I was in my hospital room, the nurses closely monitored me, but always with grace and cheer. I had the opportunity of observing Dr. Tarnay as a fine professor and teacher when I saw him working with nurses, students, and interns as he came to my room for post-surgical checkups. This reinforced my feeling that I had selected the right doctor and the right medical center for this procedure. The recovery has been swift, without incident, and I am feeling my active self again."

"I am a 65 year old grandma with many ambitions in life ....December 3, 2008 however turned my life up side down. I was given the opportunity to see Dr. Amer Karam for a consultation regarding two recent breast mammograms. I was nervous, I knew something was wrong. Dr. Amer Karam informed me, by pointing to the problem on the films, that he suspects possible cancer. (This was for me a bad word, I never wanted to hear) - . I was devastated, even though at that time a few more tests were necessary to confirm the severity and extend of the cancer. But no matter how terrible I felt, I knew from the first minute that I was in the most caring hands anyone could be at this time. Dr. Karam made me feel at ease, his language was not filled with medical jargons, rather than explaining in my terms what needs to be done. I was completely confident that Dr. Karam would guide me through this difficult journey. In addition, a MRI scan confirmed a mass in my left breast suspicious for invasive cancer. From this point on Dr. Karam had become part of my lifeline. He was at an instant available when I needed questions answered. His expertise became also a source of trust and capability as he exchanged many conversations with my daughter. I never had one single moment of anxiety, knowing that I was in the best hands possible. The surgery went extremely well and I am recovering feeling stronger. every day. As a new chapter begins, and life takes another turn for the good, I am filled with gratitude to Dr. Karam, for his special dedication, knowledge and kindness. The staff and everyone connected with my case has shown extraordinary care, kindness and professionalism."
